We’ve had a fun weekend. We had lots of family over, staying at our house. My Blaine and Angie came in from Tennessee for Angie’s brother’s mission homecoming. Collette and Brent drove down from Evanston so Bridger could be in the grand kids photo. We had a fun visit Thursday night all of us. Then Saturday Jackie, Braden, and Ashlee drove to Midway for a my mission reunion. I can’t believe it’s been 11 years since I came home. It was fun to see friends that I haven’t seen for many years. President and Sister Patch seem to be doing well. Hopefully we’ll be able to keep in touch with some of the guys that were there.
Jackie’s Progress June 19, 2007
My wife Jackie experienced a stroke a few days before Christmas last year. For a time she lost the ability to use her right hand, and talk. The night it happened she woke me up and couldn’t tell me what was wrong. My mother-in-law just happened to be staying with us to help with the kids in the morning as I leave early to go to work. We rushed to the emergency room and the doctors determined that she had a clot move into the brain. Later we would find out the clot had traveled through a hole in her heart. All this while in the middle of chemo therapy for thymoma cancer treatment. She began physical and speech therapies while still in the hospital. For a time all she could say was “I agree.” But now, six months later, she is able to talk in complete sentences and respond quickly to others. Their is still work to be done, however progress is evident. She has truely become an inpsiration to me.
I’ve noticed that I’m getting a little soft in the middle, and so now I’ve decided to do something about it. Recently I began swimming at the local pool. Today on the third lap my lungs nearly exploded!! Big huge headache and everything. So now I take it easy and do the nice stroke. Hopefully by the end of the summer most of the weight will be gone.
